About
the site
Room
512 is an unofficial website providing news and
information to fans and interested parties on The
Wonder Stuff and related groups/projects such as
Vent 414, We Know Where You Live and Miles Hunt's
solo work.
Some
of you may be familiar with the previous incarnation
of the website The Wonder Stuff Online, known affectionately
by some as simply 'TWSOnline'.
The
purpose of the site is to compliment the existing
official site and member forums by providing a comprehensive
archive of articles, features, reports, news and
media contact relating to the groups previously
mentioned covering all periods from their creation
to, in some cases, their end.
The
original TWSOnline website was first launched in
1998, prior to which the bulk of the site content
had previously been planned to be a paper-based
biography of the group. Getting little interest
from book publishers who could not foresee a wide
enough target audience for it, I was recommended
by one of the group members (still current) to consider
putting it up on the Internet for fans to access.
No money in it for me therefore but at least it
had the ability for global viewing and, judging
by the comments received over the years since, it's
as well-loved now as it was when it first started.
After
a period of inactivity by the group followed by
a lack of time on my own part to keep the site updated,
the TWSonline site was shut down.
In the
latter part of 2004, I was finally able to find
a bit of time to consider returning to the site
and following encouraging responses from a huge number
of fans, I gave in and created the basis of the
site you see before
you today.
Miles Hunt once said of the reformation of the
group in 2000 that they had done it "for the
fans."
Likewise, this website has also returned for the
fans. If they hadn't requested it, I wouldn't
have started it back up again. Miles also
once said that he felt sorry for every other band
in the world because they didn't have fans like
The Wonder Stuff have. That still remains.
We're a passionate bunch and we love our music.
The Wonder Stuff may not be the biggest group in
the world but we love them, god bless us, and as
long as there's still interest in the group, I'll
hopefully keep this site going.
