THE WONDER STUFF
are back ("Did they ever go away?" I hear you ask).
2011 marks twenty-five years since they first formed, over
twenty years
since the release of their debut album (1988's 'The Eight
Legged Groove Machine') and the group are well on
their way to
confirming their status of being a truly legendary
act.
The current
recorded line-up of Miles Hunt, Malc Treece, Mark McCarthy, Erica Nockalls and Andres
Karu have injected new life into old tracks and
made their own mark with newer material also.
Andres decided to leave the group at the end of 2010, replaced by former Pop Will Eat Itself drummer Fuzz
Townshend.
2010 was a
great year for the group with the re-recorded release of their
classic HUP album alongside festival
appearances at Ireland's Feile Festival, Guilfest
and the Cambridge Folk Festival, just to mix things
up a bit. Erica even had a Facebook campaign
that tried to get her debut solo Christmas single to
Number One ahead of the 2010 X-Factor winner's song!
Likewise, 2009
was also a massive year for the group with the 20th anniversary
re-recorded release of their Eight Legged Groove
Machine album, and the accompanying UK tour not to
mention a couple of dates in Japan and, oh, did
someone mention headlining the Avalon stage at
Glastonbury....?
The group are
touring with the Levellers in March 2011 as well as
celebrating the anniversary of their acclaimed Never
Loved Elvis album in December but aside
from that, at the moment, lots of other plans for 2011 are
still being finalised but you can bet
that the one place that's going to tell you
everything is right here! Official news,
unofficial news, rumours, behind-the-scenes gossip and much,
much more.
This website is
about everything to do with The Wonder Stuff and all
of the other work that it's group members have been
involved in. There are minisites (top
right-hand side of the main menu bar) dedicated to
the main projects with comprehensive discographies,
biographies, touring information and much more.
Sorry that the site
has been away for so long but it's good to be back and thanks
to everyone for their help, assistance and kind
comments which help to keep it going.
We've been here since 1994, let's try and get
another seventeen years under our belts!
