Ange DolittleWeKnowWhereYouLive, as mentioned in our last issue, have lost their drummer, Martin Gilks. I asked Ange the reason for Martin leaving, but he wasn't very forthcoming. "Ask Martin," he said. But was there a massive argument or something?  "No, there was no animosity," Ange replied. It seems, from other sources, that Martin left to become a full-time father and business man.

Surely it must have been a blow to you all? How did you and the rest of the band feel after his departure? "It was a bit of a headache for a while, but we felt for the telephone, made a few calls and started auditioning drummers."  You've sorted that side out now, and toured with your new drummer. Tell us about him. "His name is Bigger Jim Ledbetter, formerly of Cornwall, and he rules (man)." The thing about interviewing Ange is, he's very brief with his answers, probably something to do with the interviewer. I don't suppose you all noticed, did you?

Has it made any difference to the sound of WKWYL? After all, Martin was a very distinctive drummer. "We are still 'WeKnowWhereYouLive'. We have our own sound - our post-psychiatric noise. Jim is with us all the way," Ange counters.

I decide to take a different tack. There was talk that the band were on the verge of signing to a label. How's this going? "We are on the verge," replies Ange. "There are a couple of them so we are doing the juggling act at the moment." There's talk of another single being released, how about that? "Yeah. It will be coming out on our own label again, H.M.D. Hopefully, this will be in the first week of June, depending whether we can whore ourselves enough to raise the money."

Last December, WKWYL did a short acoustic set on GLR which went down really well. Would more live radio spots help promote the band more? "Money makes money," Ange philosophises. "Money buys good support tours. Money makes for good promotion, plugging, advertising." None of this can be denied. WKWYL deserve a break somewhere. They are one of the hardest working bands around at the moment. They've toured extensively since they formed, put out a commercially released single, 'Don't Be Too Honest', which did well in the Indie charts, and are no doubt, working towards an album. They deserve more 'air time' to put over their excellent sound, and reach a wider audience.

What are the band's plans for the next six months or so, Ange? "Ah! Many and various are our plans. Supports, own tour, single release, record the album, another single, release the album, tour the album, get a hair cut, get out of jail free, do another tour, start my own fanzine called 'We Think We're It, But We're Not, We're Shit', and back to the top again." Ooooh! Biting, Ange, biting. Is that all? Things haven't gone well since you formed then? What's gone wrong? "Look! We've worked fucking hard to keep this band going, and when it takes off, I'm going to run around town with two fingers raised, shouting 'Suck my dick, you spineless cunts!'" Now that's what I like - fighting talk! Into battle, Ange. We're right behind you!

I feel I'd better move on to something less controversial, or so I expect. What do you think of the Sex Pistols reforming, Ange?  Good idea or not? "GET PISSED. DESTROY!"

Time to call it a day, don't you think?
