SHARED is a
project that was first conceived by Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls in 2008.
The aim of the
work is for a collection of musicians to work
together, both on record and on a live stage, to
showcase and introduce some of the outstanding
musical talent available in the UK which may not get
picked up by the standard media outlets.
The project was
officially launched in January 2009 when Miles was
approached to perform at the newly refurbished
Birmingham Town Hall and felt that it was neither
the right venue for The Wonder Stuff to perform at,
nor for just him and Erica to perform one of their
standard acoustic sets at.
Miles began
making contact with a range of artists with a view
to putting on a showcase evening with the eventual
line-up for the live performance featuring Nick
Heyward, Wayne Hussey, Roddy Frame and Katell Keineg
alongside Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls.
The inaugural
Shared album was released in July 2009 featuring
performances from six acts with each artist
providing three songs including The Mission's Wayne
Hussey and Immaculate Fools' Dirty Ray with Miles
and Erica alongside Rob Dunsford, Matthew Derrick
and Timothy Parkes.
Miles also
continues to work closely with Shared acts,
including producing and performing on the debut
album from Dirty Ray 'Big World For A Little Man'.
The second Shared
album was finished in January 2011 with a release date of May 2011. Artists included
on the album this time, alongside Miles and Erica,
include Boo Hewerdine, Damien Dempsey, Jim Bob
(Carter USM), Dan Donnelly and Mike Peters (The Alarm) as well as
Shropshire-based acts The Daughters, Brentlee and
Smoke Feathers.
